Adrianne Tolsch
Adrianne Tolsch, born in the United States, built a career as a stand‑up comic whose material was unapologetically direct, chatty, and wide‑ranging. She mined subjects such as the trials of middle‑aged womanhood, her own sexuality, her Jewish heritage and family dynamics, and the oddities of everyday life. For many years she was linked to New York’s Catch a Rising Star, where she performed, ran the venue, and became its inaugural female emcee. Tolsch headlined at a host of prominent comedy houses across America and took her act on tours both at home and abroad. Her talents also landed her on Broadway stages, in cabaret productions, and she worked as a graphic artist. She was married to fellow humorist and author Bill Scheft; the pair shared U.S. tour dates and jointly produced the documentary Take My Nose... Please!
