Charles Clews
Charles Clews, a Maltese humorist and scriptwriter, made his mark in both theatre and television. In the infancy of Malta’s radio scene, he was among the earliest voices to contribute to local broadcasts. He often confided in his mother‑in‑law, constantly ribbing her by portraying her as a frightening monster, while she was truly an angelic presence. In 1943 he wed and went on to raise eight children—Hilary (now deceased), Miriam, Jane, Irene, Norman, Kenneth, Alan and Kevin. He entered the world in Senglea, Malta.
