Velko Kanev
Biography
Velko Kanev is one of the most beloved Bulgarian actors and a brilliant representative of native humor and satire. Born in 1948 in Elhovo, he graduated in acting from VITIZ in the class of Apostol Karamitev and devoted nearly four decades to theater and cinema.
Among his most memorable films are "Orchestra Without a Name," “To Love Stubbornly,” "Bon Chance, Inspector!" and "Masculine Times."On the theatrical stage he played over 40 roles and received numerous honors, among them the “Askeer” award for a leading male role.
Together with Georgi Mamalev and Pavel Popandov he created the legendary group NLO, and later became part of the cult television show "Club NLO"– one of the most recognizable satirical projects in Bulgaria.
With his natural sense of humor, human warmth, and ability to be both funny and deeply serious, Velko Kanev remains one of the unforgettable faces of Bulgarian comedy.
