He is best known for his collaboration with Russell Brand.
Morgan’s career began with an internship at MTV, where he first met Russell Brand. The show gained prominence with the BBC Radio 6 Music version in 2006, later moving to BBC Radio 2 and then Radio X. From 2006 until Brand's resignation in 2008, Morgan co-hosted this program, often fulfilling the role of the 'straight man' contrasting with Brand’s persona. A disagreement after the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards led to his initial departure, though he rejoined in Autumn 2010. He contributed writing credits for RE:Brand (2002), Empire Square (2005), 1 Leicester Square (2006), and Russell Brand's Got Issues (2006).
Morgan’s involvement extended beyond radio, serving as Creative Director for Russell Brand's Ponderland (2007–2008) and contributing to projects like The Kevin Bishop Show (2008) and James Corden’s World Cup Live (2010). In 2017, he reunited with Brand and Greg Sekweyama for a Radio X show initially intended for six months. He has provided commentary as a guest on Brand's YouTube show, 'The Trews'. Morgan launched The Matt Morgan Podcast in 2020, which was renamed The Matt Morgan Podcast and moved to Patreon.
