Hristo Garbov

Hristo Gurbov is a Bulgarian theatre and film actor, known for his numerous comedic roles in the theater, cinema, and television. He was born on September 23, 1957, in Varna. After briefly studying at the Higher Electromechanical Institute of Technology in Varna, he graduated with honors in acting for dramatic theatre from NATFA "Kristyo Sarafov" in 1983. He worked in theatres in Haskovo and Lovech, and since 1987 has been part of the troupe of the Satirical Theatre “Aleko Konstantinov” in Sofia.

Gurbov has many memorable theatre roles including Truffaldino in "The Servant of Two Masters," Cyrano in "Cyrano de Bergerac", Pierre Mignardet in "Dinner for Fools" and Ivan Antonov in "Roman Bath." For his performances in the play “Once Again Backwards” by Michael Frayn, he received an Askeer Award in 1998. He has also appeared in popular Bulgarian films such as "Arrhythmia," "Rhapsody in White", "The Blueberry Hill" and "Journey to Jerusalem".

Gurbov gained widespread popularity with his television appearances too. He was part of the cult show “Ulichata” by Teddy Moskov, participated in “Velika Bulgaria” (Great Bulgaria) and “Komitsite,” and over the years has appeared in various TV shows and films. In 1991 he received a Sofia Award for the film "Silence." In 2024, he participates in the eleventh season of "Like Two Drops of Water," where he showcases his comedic talent to a new television audience.
