Jorge Ponce
Biography
Jorge Ponce Rivero, born on May 19, 1982, in Málaga, is a Spanish comedian, screenwriter, and television and radio collaborator. Growing up in the neighborhoods of San Andrés, Benalmádena, and Torremolinos, he experienced a rebellious adolescence and worked as a waiter during his teenage years to earn money while studying. He pursued studies in Audiovisual Communication, briefly attending a Master's program in Image and Sound at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena before being expelled.
Ponce began his career as a production intern on the television show 'Caiga quien caiga'. Early in his television career, he created sketches with Yonyi Arenas for 'CQC' on Telecinco. He has since been a co-host and collaborator on radio programs such as 'Yu no te pierdas nada', 'A vivir que son dos días', and 'Asuntos propios'. Known for advocating comedy that is sometimes revolutionary, vacuous, and trashy, he has become a regular collaborator on Movistar+’s 'La resistencia' since 2017, serving as a subdirector, screenwriter, and contributor. The show has popular parts like '¿Quién prefieres que se muera?', 'Repaso a los foros de Internet', and others, showing his varied comedy.
Beyond television, Ponce performs the comedy show 'Hard Party 2.0' with Iggy Rubín and Antonio Castelo, and has made occasional appearances in the satirical newspaper 'El Mundo Today'. In 2019, he hosted the radio program 'Si sí, o si no' on Cadena SER. More recently, in 2024, he created a banner appearing on adult video platforms to raise awareness about consent. He also co-directed the Prime Video Spain series 'Medina: el estafador de famosos', which was nominated for a Feroz Award and won an ALMA award. This documentary series, exploring the story of conman Antonio Medina—who scammed several Spanish TV personalities, including Ponce himself—premiered in October 2024 and consists of five 40-minute episodes. He is currently the President of the HMV Boys seven-a-side football team.
