Biography

Karine Dubernet is a French comedian, author, and humorist. Born on August 23, 1974, in Marignane, Bouches-du-Rhône, she comes from a family with Armenian heritage; her father worked as a mechanic. Her early interest in performance began at age 11 when she started taking theater classes. She also holds a master's degree in English and studied at the Conservatoire de Marseille, demonstrating a diverse range of academic and artistic pursuits.

Dubernet’s career took shape gradually. After living in Réunion for three years, she made her stage debut at age 28 in an adaptation of Hansel and Gretel. She has since written several works, including En attendant Jenny Driver in 2004 and Kidnapping in 2006. Her comedic style is evident in her show Karine Dubernet vous éclate, which she co-wrote with Laurent Baffie and for which she received the Fonds SACD humour one-woman-show award in 2010. She has also appeared in plays such as Laurent Baffie’s Les Bonobos (2011), Arthur Jugnot and David Roussel's Des pieds et des mains (2013), and Laurent Baffie’s Sans filtre (2015), as well as Claude Lelouch’s 2009 film Ces amours là. She continues to expand her repertoire, appearing in the mini-series 'Toute en Beauté'.

Currently, Dubernet is on tour with her show Perlimpinpin, co-written with Carole Greep and Stéphane Rose. Critics have described Perlimpinpin as “hilarant, sincère et très touchante” (hilarious, sincere, and very touching) and praised it as "une pépite qui fait du bien" (a gem that does good), satirizing societal flaws with wit and elegance. She also has a new show called 'Carabistouilles,' which critiques democracy and political maneuvering, described as explosive, funny, insightful, and liberating. She is featured in television programs such as ‘La Revue de Presse’ on Paris Première and ‘La Matinale de Bruno Roblès’. Based in Avignon, she represents a continuing presence in French comedy, with Peggy Malmaison at Badhouse Production serving as her artistic agent and Caroline Renaud at V&V | Les Agents Voix handling her voice acting representation. She has also won the Public Prize at the Nikon Film Festival in 2026.
