Fan Wei, a Chinese actor, first rose to prominence through his partnership with Zhao Benshan in comedy sketches featured on the CCTV New Year's Gala starting in 1995. His television work includes the series Liu Gaogen, Ma Dashuai (which ran from 2003 to 2006), and The Long Season (2023). On the big screen he has appeared in Cell Phone (2003), A World Without Thieves (2004), If You Are the One (2008), City of Life and Death (2009), Back to 1942 (2012), Personal Tailor (2013), Mr. No Problem (2017)—a performance that earned him the Best Leading Actor prize at the 53rd Golden Horse Awards—and One Second (2020).

Critics have labeled that film both infamous and arguably the finest Chinese movie produced in the 17‑year span from 1949 up to the Cultural Revolution.
